Multifunctional Lamp

This design, created by Mian Design Studio, is a unique and innovative combination of a lamp and a bookshelf. The Balet Lamp & Book Holder is not only a source of light but also a functional piece of furniture that can hold up to 12 novel-sized books. This multifunctional design allows users to express their individuality by displaying their favorite books.

The Balet Lamp & Book Holder features a low-energy light source that can be used for reading or as ambient lighting. The design is made using aluminum extrusion, which allows for a complex and interesting form for the top book holder. The use of this process ensures fast and accurate manufacturing, reducing costs. The design also undergoes an anodizing color process, adding to its visual quality and metallic finish.

The dimensions of the Balet Lamp & Book Holder are 38cm x 38cm x 60cm for the table lamp version and 38cm x 38cm x 160cm for the floor lamp version. The design is easy to assemble, with no special tools required. Users simply turn the top of the design to pick the book they want.

The Balet Lamp & Book Holder was developed over a period of six months, from September 2015 to February 2016, in Montreal. The design process involved brainstorming, market analysis, ideation, prototyping, cost analysis, and CAD visualization. The main challenge was to showcase the beauty of extruded aluminum and create a fresh contemporary look. The design also aimed to simplify the working and reading corner, providing a personalized space for users.

This design has received recognition and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2016. The Balet Lamp & Book Holder is not only aesthetically pleasing but also contributes to quality of life improvements, making it a valuable addition to any modern interior.
